I think Nurse/Larsson would be a fantastic second pair. If only we could get a two way guy for the right side to pair with Klef.

He's a far better skater than Bogo.
Even at his worst he can make up for some of those puck distribution deficiencies matt mentioned by having the ability to carry and start a rush on his own. With limited space even

The stay home physical sort of plodding guy bogo is isn't really nurses fallback even if he doesn't work out.
Which Potentially could be more problematic as he's so erratic and mistake prone cause he tries to do so much.

The issue I have with comparing to Johnson, is that in college Johnsons coach would let him do his own thing. Johnson often played like a forward instead of a dman. Which was a big hurdle to get around in the NHL. Often why he would be out in no mans land instead of in position to do what hes supposed to be doing. I think this had a major impact on him when he went pro.

Thanks for writing a summer article. But this is ridiculous. Nurse will be 22 this season. You never know what you have with a NHL defender until he's played at least 200 games. Add the crappy coaching he's received until last season, and you have absolutely nothing to go on.

I saw him play for Bakersfield two seasons ago with my own eyes. (Side note, Draisaitl was in that game too. He didn't look anywhere as good as he does today.) Nurse was dominant at age 20 in the AHL. He controlled everything on his left side of the ice. The Gulls couldn't do anything with him on the ice.

Give this kid a break. He won't hit his prime for about five years. He's going to be a solid top 4 defenseman or better. Unless he reads crap like this article and it gets in his head.
